Thousands protest against energy prices in Leipzig

Residents of Leipzig, one of Germany’s major cities, staged a protest rally against the energy crisis and related government policies.
At about seven o’clock in the evening a rally began in the center of Leipzig. The police department of the city could not name the exact number of protesters. An approximate estimate of the number of citizens gathered on the square is several thousand people.
The organizers of the rally say that energy prices are out of control of the government. So, the tariff for heating rose three times. But instead of limiting gas prices, the German government raises these prices at the legislative level.
The rally participants criticized German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Economy Minister Robert Habek and other officials. They consider them the direct culprits of inflation.
