Thousands of wagons stopped in Russia due to the lack of foreign bearings

In Russia, due to the lack of foreign bearings, thousands of innovative gondola cars are idle. If in June 1.4 thousand wagons stopped, then in August this figure reached 7-7.5 thousand, Kommersant reports with reference to Sergei Popov, director for the repair and operation of the rolling stock of the National Transport Company (NTC).
The interlocutor of the newspaper predicted that in September already nine thousand gondola cars would stand idle and their number would continue to grow.
The problem is related to the fact that bearings for them were produced by foreign companies that owned Russian factories. However, with the start of the special operation in Ukraine, they curtailed their business in Russia. At the same time, the country did not find its own production of the necessary bearings.
Since August, EPK has been able to arrange deliveries, but it can only supply 15,000 bearings, while 195,000 are needed by the end of the year.
In addition, bearings manufactured by two Chinese plants are being tested in Russia. However, taking into account import duties, they will cost at least twice as much, while another interlocutor of the publication in the industry said that the Chinese counterpart will be more than three times more expensive.
