The work of thousands of security guards and accountants at Russian enterprises reduces the level of labor productivity in the country, said the head of the Russian Ministry of Economy, Maxim Reshetnikov. In his opinion, the Russian economy needs systematic measures to increase labor productivity, since there are a number of industries with unproductive employment, which include accounting and security.

“Of course, colleagues, we need to return to the topic of systemic measures to increase labor productivity. Everything that, from an economic point of view, creates unproductive employment – sometimes unnecessary security requirements, when we require the presence of a person at a specific place, although everything could have long ago been replaced with cameras, brought everything to one observation center and controlled through this,” said Mr. Reshetnikov, speaking at the forum “Day of Labor Productivity and Mentoring” (quote from Prime).

The minister also called increasing labor productivity in the Russian Federation a priority issue, which the state pays special attention to.

Earlier, analysts from the ACRA agency came to the conclusion that structural changes in the Russian economy have already led to high utilization of existing capacities and labor resources, the level of which, as a result of the combination of the post-pandemic situation in 2021 and the growth of state demand in 2022–2023, has now reached historical levels very high levels. The agency notes that labor productivity in the country will remain low in the coming years, the labor market will overheat, and the number of employees will exceed the number of employers.
