Only criminals and deputies will be deprived of such privileges

The Russian Ministry of Defense plans to allow military personnel to exchange vacation days and compensatory days not taken off at the time of dismissal for monetary compensation. Published today on the portal of draft regulatory legal acts bill involves adjusting the provisions of the law “On the Status of Military Personnel” relating to military recreation.

The law, in particular, prohibits removing him from the lists of a military unit without the consent of a serviceman until he is granted unused days of basic and additional leave. At the same time, civil servants, that is, officials, can refuse unpaid vacations and receive monetary compensation for them. The conditions under which a military person can refuse to use leave are not specified. With the adoption of the law developed by the Ministry of Defense, the military will also be given the right to receive money. The authors of the document emphasize that its adoption will not only put military personnel on an equal footing with civilians, but will also make it possible to quickly make personnel decisions to fill vacant military positions.

It is planned that not all military personnel will be given the right to exchange days for money. Thus, military personnel who were dismissed due to deprivation of military rank, loss of confidence, due to the entry into force of a court decision to deprive a serviceman of his freedom, for other unseemly reasons, but not only, will not be able to claim payment. They will not pay compensation in cases where a Defense Ministry serviceman is transferred to another law enforcement agency or civil service, as well as when he is elected as a deputy of the State Duma and parliaments of other levels.
