The decision to return the “Daddy’s Daughters” to the air looks very logical. Nostalgia for the beginning of the 2000s (the show premiered in 2007) is already gaining momentum. And the more the clouds are gathering now, the more prosperous the times seem when the news did not frighten and you could laugh at carefree sitcoms. But what will the new jokes be like?
As expected, all those involved in the new season of the project do not disclose almost any details. But it was probably not easy for the writers to move the characters of “Daddy’s Girls” to the current time and make them funny again. Interest in the spirit of “and what they look like now” is the driving force behind many projects based on the returning heroes of bygone days. But only the return of matured stars is still not enough for a whole season.
There is a suspicion that the charm and spontaneity of the “daughters” themselves and their friends ten years later will no longer work. Modern comedies are sometimes made as if cut off from the outside world, but the characters, willy-nilly, have to be endowed with the features of living people, and the latter are most often depressed and confused. Of course, one can hope that there are many who want to get a series that, at least for a while, will fulfill the role of a warm cozy blanket in the midst of a storm, but such a blanket should probably be of decent quality.
There is no exact information yet, which of the stars of “Daddy’s Daughters” will return in the new season. The audience received a fairly clear hint in the form of a script sheet, according to which it is clear that Galina Sergeevna and Venik, performed by Liza Arzamasova and Philip Bledny, will be in the project. Philippe’s persona has already drawn tongue-in-cheek remarks on social media. “The broom is no longer a broom, but a whole vacuum cleaner,” one user wrote, clearly hinting that the actor has radically changed his image and, apparently, spends quite a lot of time in the gym with all the ensuing consequences.
The button, according to fans, also became quite a button, and Dasha, who stopped dressing up as a Gothic princess, simply lost its meaning. If we assume that all the performers of the main roles will return to the project, then the audience will see actors and actresses who have developed different careers during this time.
Probably, Liza Arzamasova is now known more than other “daughters”. She has been acting in films and TV shows since the age of four, and her filmography already includes more than seventy works, including many leading roles. Elizabeth also plays in various theatrical productions and even tries herself as a singer. In 2020, she married figure skater Ilya Averbukh (a year later, the couple had a son), and thus an expressive secular plot also appeared in the biography of the actress.
Philip Bledny is also a rather busy actor, and he obviously does not have to complain about the same type of projects. An enviable physical form allows Pale to play representatives of law enforcement agencies, while the actor is also invited to romantic and comedy projects such as “Kitchen”, “Hotel Eleon” and “Fitness”. Philip himself sometimes, not without irony, notes in an interview that the children of his fans are already watching “Daddy’s Daughters”.
Daria Melnikova, who played Zhenya Vasnetsova, after filming in “Daddy’s Daughters” received more than twenty roles in films and TV shows, reincarnating as heroines of various times. The actress also plays in the productions of the Yermolova Theater and even tried herself as a designer, opening a clothing brand for expectant mothers. Her marriage to actor Artur Smolyaninov looked very cinematic. For eight years, during which colleagues were husband and wife, they had two sons. However, the couple broke up last year.
Miroslava Karpovich was the most experienced actress of all the “daughters”, in the series she played Masha and was responsible for mischievous looks and miniskirts. At the moment, Masha Vasnetsova is probably the most famous role of the actress. Nevertheless, Miroslava’s work schedule is quite tight, now she has two series a year, and this is not counting various theatrical projects.
Ekaterina Starshova, who touched the audience with the role of Buttons for several years, is studying at the Faculty of Fundamental Medicine at Moscow State University, so she clearly does not have enough time for acting. In addition to “Daddy’s Daughters”, she could be seen in the film “Black Lightning”, and Catherine’s fans most likely remember her participation in “Dancing with the Stars”.
Anastasia Sevaeva, who played probably the most famous goth girl in the cinema, had both acting and modeling experience even before filming in the series. However, after “Daddy’s Daughters” disappeared from the air, Anastasia rarely enters the set and plays far from the main roles. Probably, of all the “daughters” Anastasia is the most mysterious. She very rarely talks about herself, and fans can follow her only through photos on social networks from different travels.
Of course, everyone who returns to the project is at some risk. This is not about a nostalgic episode, as was the case with the heroes of the American series Friends, but about new full-fledged episodes. And the chances that the public will show serious interest in the heroes from the past are still difficult to assess as incredibly high. Attempts to re-enter the already familiar water are not always successful. However, the intrigue here, of course, is. I would very much like to appreciate the adult problems of Buttons.
