Andrei Kartapolov (United Russia), head of the State Duma Committee on Defense, believes that the withdrawal of the Wagner private military company from the military operation zone will not cause a new mobilization. In his opinion, “in the near future” it will not be required.
“The President of the Russian Federation clearly, understandably and specifically said that there would be no new mobilization, there is a planned recruitment of military personnel for a contract, a planned formation of formations and units, including a reserve, and their training. There is no need for mobilization today and in the near future,” said Mr. Kartapolov TASS.
The deputy sees no threat of reducing the combat potential of the Russian army in the medium and long term. He noted that at the time of the mutiny, Wagner PMC fighters were not “at the forefront”, they were in camps. According to him, the repulse of the offensive of the Ukrainian army went “practically without their participation.” “As for their replacement in the reserve, that is, with what and with whom to replace them,” he added.
In mid-June, President Vladimir Putin saidthat at the moment there is no need for additional mobilization in the country. At the end of June, State Duma deputy from United Russia Konstantin Zatulin declaredthat Russia may need a new wave of mobilization to win the military operation.
