There is no geopolitical game in the idea of creating a gas union between Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
He noted that the idea of creating such a tripartite project is now being discussed.
“Analysts, especially in the West, immediately began to say that this is some kind of political or geopolitical game. There is no game here,” he said in an interview with the Kazakh TV channel Khabar 24.
Lavrov pointed out that all three countries are neighbors with a common gas transportation system. They are interested in ensuring that the gas supply is not disturbed. In Uzbekistan, for example, the other day there was a sharp shortage of electricity. The gas union will help to avoid such situations, the minister is sure.
