Russian President Vladimir Putin, answering questions during the final press conference, noted that the unemployment rate in the country was 2.9%. The head of state emphasized that there has never been such a low figure in Russian history.
“We have recovered from last year’s decline and taken a serious step forward. Inflation, unfortunately, has increased, but the Central Bank is taking all necessary measures. Industrial production is growing. What is especially positive is the growth of investment. The Russian banking system is stable. Real wages will increase by about 8%, the national average. The unemployment rate is 2.9% – this has never happened in history,” the president said.
Vladimir Putin drew attention to the fact that from 2024 the minimum wage (minimum wage) in Russia will be increased to 19,242 rubles. (+18.5%). Now it is 16,242 rubles. The government previously noted that as a result of increasing the minimum wage, wages will increase for 4.8 million people.
The government submitted a project to increase the minimum wage for consideration in the State Duma on September 29, along with the draft federal budget for 2024–2026. The president signed laws on the federal budget and increasing the minimum wage on November 27.
