The working group on SVO proposed giving volunteers benefits like contract soldiers

The working group on special military operations (SVO) handed over to Russian President Vladimir Putin another report with its proposals. Among other things, they initiated the extension of a number of benefits that contract soldiers can enjoy to volunteers, said the head of the working group, First Vice Speaker of the Federation Council Andrei Turchak in Telegram.

What the working group proposes:

• extend to volunteers a number of benefits that contract soldiers now have: one-time payments in case of injury or death, personal income tax deduction, property tax benefits;
• allow parents and spouses of seriously injured people to take time off from work while caring for them;
• allow family members to register a SVO participant at their place of residence using a power of attorney;
• approve a unified procedure for booking tickets for SVO participants who go on vacation or for treatment (Mr. Turchak draws attention to cases when only business class tickets are available for sale, which are not refundable, or for seats without luggage);
• to enable SVO participants to undergo complex rehabilitation without waiting in line if they were injured, wounded, concussed or disabled during combat operations.

Mr. Turchak also reported on work on the issue of prosthetics. It requires not only the provision of technical means of rehabilitation, but also the provision of medical services (massage, physiotherapy, physical therapy). “Today this is not provided for in prosthetics. As a result, the person is provided with a means of rehabilitation that he cannot use,” wrote Mr. Turchak. The working group proposed to instruct the government to include medical care in the range of prosthetics services.
