Coordinator of Strategic Communications at the National Security Council John Kirby responded at a briefing at the White House to the question of why the US military shot down Iranian drones and missiles that were flying towards Israel, while the US did not repel air attacks in Ukraine.

“I’ve been waiting for this question,” Kirby said. According to him, these are different conflicts, different airspace and a different threat picture.

He emphasized that the United States has clearly stated from the very beginning that it does not intend to become involved in the conflict in Ukraine “in a combat role.” Kirby recalled that the United States transferred air defense equipment to Ukraine. At the same time, the White House representative complained that now the United States cannot do even this due to the stalling in Congress of a bill to allocate additional funds to help Kyiv.
