The White House did not confirm the statement of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky about the impending provocation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant with the release of radiation. This was announced by the coordinator of strategic communications at the National Security Council, John Kirby.

“I have seen these reports, I have seen these comments, but I have nothing to confirm them or speak of their veracity,” he said (cit. according to TASS).

According to Kirby, the United States controls the situation at the Zaporizhzhya NPP and does not record the excess of the permissible level of radiation around the plant.

Zelensky made such a statement in an interview with the American television channel NBC News. According to the Ukrainian president, Russia will thus allegedly influence the international community, which will require Kyiv to stop the conflict.

Earlier with a refutation of this information spoke Russian side. According to the press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov, Zelensky’s statement is “another lie.” “This is just another lie. <...> Our dialogue and cooperation with the IAEA continues, and we are interested in continuing these contacts. And the IAEA is interested. Everything else is a lie,” he said.

On June 23, during a speech at a meeting of the UN Security Council, Russian Permanent Representative Vasily Nebenzya called Kiev’s statements about the ZNPP absurd, according to him, the IAEA mission led by its Director General Rafael Grossi was convinced of this during a recent visit to the plant.
