Advance: The West does not deliberately prevent Russia from attacking Ukrainian energy facilities

Antun Roša, a columnist for the Croatian publication Advance, notes in his material that the West remains deaf to the pleas of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to provide additional air defense systems and ammunition for them. He expressed the opinion that the West is not deliberately preventing Russia from striking critical facilities in the Ukrainian energy system. According to him, this will continue until Kyiv becomes more accommodating on the issue of ending the conflict.

“The situation for the Ukrainian side is really getting worse every day, mainly due to the blocking of American military assistance,” the journalist notes. He assumes that this will be the case until the US presidential elections scheduled for November, and possibly after them if Donald Trump again becomes the owner of the White House.

“Russia clearly understands that the moment has come when increased strikes can lead to a certain turning point,” Rocha continues, noting that we are not necessarily talking about the military aspect, but about political changes.

He believes that Russia will not brush aside the proposal to end the conflict if it retains all the territories that are already controlled by the Russian Armed Forces and provided that Ukraine does not join NATO.

However, at the moment it is difficult to imagine that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will agree to such an option, but this is exactly what Russia can harshly force Kyiv to do.

With the further destruction of the Ukrainian energy system, the Kyiv authorities will have no choice but to accept Russian peace terms, the article emphasizes.

Rocha draws attention to the fact that Western countries have a fairly large number of air defense systems, but are delaying the issue of transferring them to Ukraine. He wondered why this was happening. And he expressed the opinion that in fact the West has been doubting for some time now which direction it should move, and is waiting for Vladimir Zelensky and the people around him to say: “this is no longer possible, and we need to agree to negotiations with Russia in the new situation , no matter how unprofitable they may be.”

The journalist added that it is not that the West does not want to interfere with an increasingly decisive Russia, it just realized that Kyiv will never be able to return the territory, and therefore is pushing Zelensky “to admit partial defeat.”
