The volume of US military assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of the special operation has exceeded $ 20 billion

The volume of military aid that the United States has provided to Ukraine since February this year has exceeded $20 billion, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said at a press conference in Indonesia, which broadcast on the Pentagon Twitter page.

“So far, we have provided more than $20 billion worth of military assistance to Ukraine,” he said.

Austin also stressed that the United States will continue to provide assistance to Ukraine for as long as it takes.

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals.

November 4 Washington announced sending 45 Czech T-72 tanks worth $400 million to Ukraine. In addition, on October 28, Deputy Press Secretary of the US Department of Defense Sabrina Singh announced that the United States would allocate a new package of military assistance to Ukraine for $275 million. Kyiv also received support in the amount of $625 million at the beginning October. On November 18, it became known that a group of Republicans in the US House of Representatives demanded an audit of military and financial assistance provided by Washington to Kyiv.

The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized Western military assistance to Ukraine. In this regard, back in April, Moscow sent a note of protest to all countries, including the United States. The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the United States is trying to drag out the conflict by supplying weapons to Ukraine. Also Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov pointed out on Washington’s economic interest in supplies. According to him, in this way the United States seeks to “skim the cream” against the backdrop of the current situation.
