The volume of purchases by state companies from small businesses increased to a record 8 trillion rubles

The largest state-owned companies in Russia purchased almost 8 trillion rubles worth of goods and services from small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in 2023. Compared to 2022, the volume of purchases from SME suppliers increased by 13.5%, said Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov.
“At the end of 2023, the record for the entire period of validity of the quota for purchases from SMEs was updated. Their total amount reached almost 8 trillion rubles,” he said (quoted from website government).
Mr. Belousov also noted the increase in the number of suppliers themselves among SME representatives. Over the year, their number increased to 213 thousand.
The majority of purchases by large state-owned companies from SMEs were associated with the supply of manufacturing products (RUB 2.45 trillion), construction work (RUB 1.9 trillion) and the provision of services in scientific, engineering and professional activities (RUB 401 billion .).
The leaders in terms of volume of purchases from SMEs in the past year were Russian Railways, Aeroflot, Rostelecom and Rosseti. Most of all in 2023, Moscow (2.1 trillion rubles), St. Petersburg (682 billion rubles) and the Moscow region (362 billion rubles) purchased from SME suppliers.
As they told “Interfax” in the SME State Corporation, state-owned companies purchased services, goods and work worth 7.2 billion rubles last year from self-employed entrepreneurs. Most often, companies purchased financial intermediation and insurance services, advertising services and creative services from self-employed people.
