Denis Mamonov, director of the public debt department of the Ministry of Finance of Russia, said that the volume of domestic sovereign borrowing of the Russian Federation in 2024 will be comparable to the level of 2023, Reuters reports.

“The budget process is now in full swing, I think by October the public drafts will appear. It is clear that the volume will be comparable, probably, with the current one,” Mr. Mamonov told reporters.

For 2023, the internal loan program is 2.5 trillion rubles. with the possibility of additional borrowing up to 1 trillion rubles. to replace spending by the National Welfare Fund (NWF) to cover the budget deficit.
