The diesel-electric submarine Volkhov of the Pacific Fleet (PF) launched the Kalibr-PL cruise missile at a coastal target in the Khabarovsk Territory. The firing range exceeded 1 thousand km, the fleet information support department said.
The submarine launched from underwater in the Sea of Japan. The coastal target imitated the firing position of a mock enemy. “At the estimated time, the Caliber missile successfully hit the designated target on the Surkum tactical field,” the department said (quoted from TASS).
The submarine B-603 “Volkhov” is part of the 19th Primorsky Flotilla of heterogeneous forces of the Pacific Fleet. It was laid down at the Admiralty Shipyards in July 2017 and launched on December 26, 2019. Entered the fleet on October 24, 2020.
According to TASS, in November 2023, the nuclear submarine Krasnoyarsk carried out launches of Kalibr-PL and Oniks missiles during state tests. The launches were carried out from the White Sea.
