The governments of Russia and Turkey continue to work to resolve bank transfer problems that have arisen due to sanctions. This was announced by the Russian Ambassador in Ankara Alexey Erkhov. He added that the situation is still tense. According to him, the United States is “terrorizing” Turkish businesses working with Russia.

“The Americans and the European Union, with tenacity worthy of better use, are purposefully destroying the building of Russian-Turkish trade and economic cooperation, painstakingly erected by both sides over a long time,” Mr. Erkhov said in a commentary “RIA News”.

According to an agency source, the US government is warning Turkish private banks about the need to carefully check payment transfers.

The Russian ambassador added that Western countries are trying to block payments that are subject to sanctions. Because of this, Turkish banks are beginning to “play it safe” and demand additional documents and materials. All this, says Mr. Erkhov, greatly complicates the translation process.

At the end of March, it became known that trade with Turkey was at risk of stopping due to financial problems. The Dunya newspaper reported that local companies were unable to receive remittances from Russia and close their export accounts, and banks were rejecting payments en masse. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov April 8 statedthat Moscow and Ankara are trying to solve problems with bank transfers.
