The United States has already spent 96% of the funds allocated for all areas of support for Ukraine. White House Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby spoke about this on Wednesday, November 8.
As the official clarified, we are talking about money allocated not only for military needs, but also for providing economic, financial and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
As for exclusively military assistance, more than 90% of the allocated funds were spent in this area. The US Department of Defense still has about $1.1 billion at its disposal to replace weapons sent to the Ukrainian military from US army warehouses.
Earlier, Erin McKee, assistant to the head of the American Agency for International Development (USAID) for European and Eurasian Affairs, said that at present there are no funds left to continue direct budget support for Ukraine. This may threaten the need to take emergency measures in Ukraine, which could “cause serious damage to military efforts”.
At the same time, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that in a year Western states will be able to reduce the amount of assistance to his country by reducing the Ukrainian budget deficit. In the meantime, over the coming year, Western aid will be criticaland its significance may be decisive, the politician noted.
