The US Senate voted for a draft budget that provides for multi-billion dollar aid to Ukraine.
The bill will now go to the US House of Representatives.
The US federal budget includes $858 billion in defense spending. It is assumed that 45 billion dollars will be directed to help Ukraine and NATO allies.
It is expected that after the vote in the House of Representatives, the President of the United States will sign the law before Friday evening. Otherwise, there will be a situation of “shutdown” – the termination of the work of the federal authorities due to lack of funds. But the risk of “shutdown” has not yet been completely removed. The leader of the Republicans in the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, is pushing for the passage of a bill that will extend the work of the government for a short time and continue discussing the draft budget. If the Republicans survive until January 3, they will get a stronger voice in the legislative process, as a new composition of Congress will begin work, where they won the majority.
