US President Joe Biden’s son Hunter has pleaded not guilty to any federal charges related to illegal weapons possession. transmits Fox News.
Hunter Biden appeared before a Delaware district judge on October 3. Two of the charges filed a month ago relate to filling out a controlled substance form when purchasing a revolver in the fall of 2018. The third count alleges Hunter possessed a firearm while using drugs. The president’s son pleaded not guilty, Fox News notes. On all three counts, he faces up to 25 years in prison and a fine of up to $500,000.
Hunter Biden previously faced federal charges of violating tax and anti-money laundering laws in his business transactions. According to prosecutors, Hunter received taxable income of more than $1.5 million annually in 2017-2018.
Biden Jr. struck a plea deal in June that would have seen him plead guilty to two counts of willful failure to pay federal taxes, which would have allowed him to avoid prison time on firearms charges, but the deal fell through in July.
After a 20-minute court hearing, Biden Jr. was released pending trial on the condition that he find a job, stay away from alcohol and drugs, and report all planned trips abroad.
