The CNN report also says that Washington has been in contact with key allies, as well as China and India, on this topic. Sources said that American authorities were directly trying to discuss the topic with Russian authorities. Thus, it is reported that the Secretary of State notified the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergei Lavrov of his concerns, the head of the CIA Bill Burns met in Turkey with the head of the SVR Sergei Naryshkin, and the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley called the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov.
