The US forced Ukrainian officials to beg for help: “There are no more guarantees”

American support for Ukraine is again under attack. The White House said the administration is “running out of money and running out of time” to provide more weapons to Kyiv. However, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer decided to hold a vote on an additional $106 billion assistance package for Independence. However, the American media do not believe in the success of this venture.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced Monday a procedural vote on President Biden’s supplemental $106 billion package to send aid to Ukraine, Israel, the Indo-Pacific region and humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip. This will happen on Wednesday.

Politico believes that the vote will “almost certainly fail.” This comes as US border security talks have stalled in recent days. The Hill agrees that Schumer’s plan is futile, arguing that the bill is unlikely to overcome its initial hurdle.

Republicans have already said they will vote against consideration of additional legislation unless it includes a border component. For this part of the American Congress, the border agreement is of paramount importance. Without this, the proposal will not be able to cross the finish line in the House of Representatives.

Apparently, giving Zelensky a chance to justify himself for his country’s failures at the front, the President of Ukraine on Tuesday is scheduled to speak to senators via video link at some kind of secret briefing. There Zelensky will inform (or better yet, report) on the state of the conflict in his country and the need for another round of military assistance.

“The administration invited President Zelensky to address senators as part of our classified briefing so that we could hear directly from him exactly what is at stake in this vote. I ask all senators to attend this important briefing,” Schumer explained the decision.

But we must be realistic. As CNN recalls in its material, almost eight weeks after Biden’s request to Congress to provide Kiev with an additional $60 billion to replenish its stockpiles of weapons and ammunition, almost nothing has happened in this direction. The impasse over differences over fortifying the U.S.-Mexico border is dimming the prospects of Congress taking action before the holidays.

Biden’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, is already stating in a panic: “We are running out of money and almost no time left. A vote against supporting Ukraine is a vote to improve Putin’s strategic position.”

Combine this with comments from White House Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda Young, who said, “Stopping the flow of U.S. weapons and equipment would bring Ukraine to its knees on the battlefield, increasing the likelihood of Russian military victories.”

Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova, also put in her two cents, pleading with American lawmakers not to abandon her country: “After we’ve won so much, we can’t lose it now. We are all praying and hoping for additional support from the American people.”

To tell the truth, America did not understand what Ukraine won. The prospects for the further course of the conflict are also doubtful for the United States. An obvious contribution to the United States turning its back on Independence Square was made by the “grand Ukrainian counter-offensive.” Ukraine’s failure to turn its long-promised counteroffensive into concrete gains has left skeptics of the aid increase questioning whether it is being used effectively, CNN said.

On the other hand, as Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson points out, the American administration has not proposed either a plan for victory in Ukraine or a way to resolve the conflict. Translated into primitive language, the United States does not have a clearly defined plan within the framework of the “Ukrainian project.” Multiply this by the fact that billions of bloody dollars are flowing from the pockets of American taxpayers… The complaints against the Biden administration and at the same time Ukraine are quite understandable.

It is also clear why Washington is convulsing, trying to find a personally acceptable solution. The United States’ reputation as a global leader is at stake. Just two weeks ago, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin came to Kyiv and publicly told Zelensky: “We’re going to be with you for a long time.” But from that moment on, everything quickly fell apart. And it is precisely this kind of progressive collapse that has always frightened the United States, which is confident that the weakness of the United States will allow other states to strengthen their positions on the world stage.

It is clear that Washington is working in multitasking mode: to maintain a more or less stable situation within its country and at the same time prove that the United States is still strong and capable of helping Kyiv militarily. At the same time, maintaining internal stability is much more important for the United States, which has been proven more than once. Let us remember how cleverly Biden and company managed to avoid the impending shutdown by simply removing Ukraine from the list of beneficiaries.

And now CNN concludes: the coming danger for Ukraine is that it will be drawn even deeper into the battle for government funding that looms in January and February. And even before the results of the 2024 elections become known, it becomes clear that there are no longer any guarantees that US billions will flow like a river into Ukraine.
