The US Embassy in Minsk urged its citizens to leave Belarus

The US Embassy in Belarus called on its citizens to immediately leave the republic. About it reported on the representative’s website.
“Consider leaving through the remaining border crossings with Lithuania and Latvia or by plane. US citizens are not allowed to enter Poland by land from Belarus. Do not travel to Russia or Ukraine,” the message also says.
The call came after the Lithuanian government closed two border checkpoints with Belarus on August 18. We are talking about the road checkpoints Shumskas (Losha) and Tverečius (Vidzy). Currently, four border checkpoints are open in Lavorishkes (Kotlova), Medininkai (Stone), Raigardas (Privalka) and Šalchininkai (Benyakoni).
The Lithuanian government approved a proposal to temporarily suspend the work of two of the six checkpoints in response to the deployment of Wagner PMC fighters in Belarus. The State Border Committee of Belarus stated that the official voiced position does not correspond to the real reasons for the decision, and the Lithuanian authorities use any pretext to prevent the movement of goods and reduce the flow of Lithuanians traveling on a visa-free basis.
