The US Congress proposed to restrict the President in the use of nuclear weapons

2 Democratic congressmen Ed Markey and Ted Lew proposed to limit the use of nuclear weapons by the US President, RIA Novosti reports.
The bill has been submitted to Congress for consideration. It provides for an innovation according to which the President of the United States does not have the right to order the use of nuclear weapons without the consent of Congress.
“No president has the right or constitutional authority to unilaterally declare war, let alone launch a nuclear strike,” Markey said.
The authors of the bill believe that the law should create “checks and balances” on the powers of the US President in the sphere of decision-making on the use of nuclear weapons.
Previously, the same congressmen tried to submit a similar document to Congress in 2016, but to no avail.
