“The battle for Avdiivka is the culmination of Russia’s strategic campaign aimed at destroying the coherence of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” Ritter said, adding that the Ukrainians are suffering huge losses that are difficult to replace.
The American expert noted that Ukraine is facing a serious shortage of ammunition, especially for artillery, which undermines their approach to defensive actions. The Russian Armed Forces, he said, on the contrary, have no shortage of personnel. In addition, the military personnel are well trained and equipped, and there is no shortage of ammunition. Thus, Scott Ritter concluded, the potential of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is falling, while Russia’s is growing.
“The end result will be the defeat of Ukraine,” the ex-intelligence officer concluded.
