The exercises of the Armenian and American military that started in Armenia should be considered as a routine event. This statement was made on Monday, September 11, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.

As the official assured, the countries regularly conduct joint military training, since Armenia is a long-time partner of the United States.

Miller also noted that this is joint work with partners to maintain the combat readiness of the armies of the two states.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, commenting on joint exercises between Armenia and the United States, said that there’s nothing good about it. According to him, Yerevan’s actions look strange, given that Armenia refuses exercises within the CSTO.

The Chairman of the Society of Retired Officers in Turkey, General Erdogan Karakus, noted that the United States is trying to strengthen its influence in the South Caucasus, while Russia is busy conducting a special operation in Ukraine. Washington “supports” the Armenian people and at the same time makes it clear to Iran that it does not need to enter the region and interfere in what is happening.
