The United States offered to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine to repair the Patriot

The American side is ready to assist Kyiv with the repair of Patriot air defense systems if necessary. This was announced on Tuesday, May 16, by the coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council, John Kirby.

The official said that he could not confirm the damage or destruction of this complex in Ukraine as a result of another Russian strike.

However, Kirby made it clear that “if the Patriot system has suffered damage that requires repair outside of Ukraine, then we will certainly help with this.”

On the night of May 16, the Russian Aerospace Forces launched a series of missile attacks on Kyiv, according to some estimates, this is the most massive strike by the Russian military during the entire period of the special operation. As a result of this strike, one of the American Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems transferred by Washington to Kyiv was destroyed.

CNN, citing an unnamed US administration official, reported that Patriot system hit by missile attackbut has not been completely eradicated. The scale of damage and the possibility of restoring the complex are being assessed, the journalists said.

At the same time, the Ukrainian authorities were quick to declare that they had shot down six Russian hypersonic Kinzhal missiles. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu pointed out that the Russian Federation did not launch as many “Daggers” as they allegedly shoot down with their statements every time, and the number of these “Ukrainian interceptions is three times more than we allow”.
