The United States neutralized a network of Chinese hackers targeting infrastructure facilities – Kommersant

According to the agency Reuters, citing unnamed sources in US security services, the country’s authorities carried out an operation to neutralize a network of Chinese hackers who were targeting critical infrastructure. The operation was reportedly carried out jointly by agents of the FBI and the US Department of Justice against the hacker group Volt Typhoon, which sought to disrupt the operation of some US seaports, Internet providers and other infrastructure.

The activities of this group became known in May last year, after which representatives of American security services held a series of meetings with representatives of private companies from the technology sector, agreeing to coordinate efforts in the fight against this group. According to Reuters sources in American intelligence agencies, the hacker network was aimed at objects that would prevent the United States from responding in a timely manner to the situation in the event of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan.
