The US Treasury decided to make an exception to the sanctions for Russian persons who receive a Russian pension but are outside the Russian Federation. This applies to both US citizens and those who do not have a US passport.
In addition, the department took a similar step for banks that came under restrictions after the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine. Thus, the Ministry of Finance issued a general license. It allows you to make transactions to close accounts of individuals in sanctioned Russian banks.
A one-time transfer of the remaining funds, along with other assets, to another account is also allowed. They can also be transferred to accounts opened with financial institutions that are not under restrictions.
Bloomberg previously reported that many Wall Street banks are ready to resume buying and selling Russian bonds. Among such banks are American financial giants – JPMorgan and Bank of America.
This happened after the US Treasury explained that the closing of positions by individuals would not violate the sanctions imposed against Russia.
