The United States is trying to remove suspicions from Kyiv of involvement in the terrorist attack at Crocus – Kommersant

The Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) believes that the administration of US President Joe Biden intends to distort the picture of the terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall near Moscow. According to Russian intelligence, the American government has instructed the media and non-profit organizations to “remove the international community’s suspicions” that the Ukrainian authorities were involved in the terrorist attack. For these purposes, representatives of the non-systemic Russian opposition were instructed by the United States to “inflate the topic of the unreasonable use” of a terrorist attack by Russia to justify the conduct of the SVO, reports the SVR.

“Representatives of the Russian non-systemic opposition living abroad have been instructed to stir up the topic of the unfoundedness of the attempts of the Russian authorities to use a terrorist attack to justify the SVO in Ukraine,” the message says (quoted from TASS). The US government, the SVR claims, is trying to blame the terrorist attack on the Afghan branch of the Islamic State, Vilayat Khorasan (both organizations are recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia). However, the haste with which Washington began to deny Kyiv’s involvement “seemed suspicious and reckless to both the West and the East,” the SVR believes.

The SVR notes that Ukraine has already used terrorist methods in the fight against Russia, and the terrorist attack in Crocus is a “relative” of shelling and attacks by saboteurs in border areas.

The terrorist attack in Crocus near Moscow occurred on the evening of March 22. Armed people burst into the building of the concert complex and opened fire on visitors and staff. They then set fire to the Crocus and fled the crime scene. According to the latest data, 144 people were killed as a result of the terrorist attack.

At the moment, 11 people have been detained in connection with the terrorist attack, including four alleged perpetrators. The Russian Foreign Ministry said on March 31 that Ukraine was connected with the attack on Crocus. Ukrainian authorities deny any connections with the terrorist attack. The White House adheres to the same version.
