The United States is selecting military personnel for possible deployment to Israel

The US military has selected about 2,000 troops to prepare for a potential deployment to Israel. reports The Wall Street Journal with reference to representatives of the American defense department.

According to the publication, military personnel are tasked with providing advisory and medical assistance – they are not intended to perform combat missions. Not a single infantryman received the order to be ready.

Currently, military personnel are deployed both in the Middle East and beyond, including in Europe. The WSJ clarifies that it is not yet clear under what circumstances and where the United States might send these troops, but the Pentagon’s decision indicates that it is preparing to support Israeli troops if Israel launches a ground invasion of the Gaza Strip.
