The press service of the US Navy’s Sixth Fleet, in a publication on the fleet’s official website, reported that the US Navy ship USS Mount Whitney was sent to the eastern Mediterranean to support US operations amid the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
A Navy release states that the US Sixth Fleet Blue Ridge-class ship USS Mount Whitney departed Gaeta, Italy on October 18 to support United States operations in the eastern Mediterranean.
Earlier it became known that the US Congress may give American President Joe Biden the right to use force against Middle Eastern Islamist groups amid the deteriorating situation in the region.
