The United States announced the unwillingness of Russia to enter into a military conflict with NATO

Russia does not want a direct military conflict with the US and NATO, but there is a possibility that this will happen, says in the annual threat assessment report released by the United States National Intelligence.

“Russia probably does not want a direct military conflict with US and NATO forces, but there is a possibility that this will happen,” the report says.

The national intelligence service believes that so far the Russian leadership has avoided actions that could take the conflict beyond the borders of Ukraine, but “but the risk of escalation remains significant.”

The document also notes that the escalation of the conflict could lead to a military confrontation between Russia and the West, which the world “has not faced in decades.”

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. After the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, Western countries imposed large-scale sanctions against Russia and began to provide military assistance to Kyiv.

The Russian authorities have repeatedly accused Western countries of escalating the situation in Ukraine. He also added that NATO countries should support Ukraine, since “there are no options without the risk” of escalation.
