The White House has announced a new military assistance package for Ukraine with the Avenger air defense system and ammunition for HIMARS. This was stated by the coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council, John Kirby.
“We are using this package, which we are announcing today, to supply Ukraine with additional munitions for Patriot air defense systems, which Ukraine is using quite effectively, as well as new Avenger systems, Stinger MANPADS and, of course, HIMARS ammunition,” said Kirby (quote according to TASS).
He stressed that the United States is ready to continue supporting Ukraine, providing it with “everything it needs to better defend itself.” The military aid package will be the 39th since the start of the conflict in Ukraine.

The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the supply of Western weapons to the Ukrainian authorities. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, warned that pumping Ukraine with weapons brings NATO closer to the dangerous line of a direct military clash with Russia.
