The UN warned of the threat of energy shortages in Ukraine in the winter

Ukraine may face energy shortages in winter, and the UN is making efforts to mitigate the consequences of this, Stephane Dujarric, a spokesman for the world organization’s secretary general, said at a briefing. About that informs TASS.
“With regard to winter, we are of course concerned about problems with access to energy for a large number of households, which will have devastating consequences. Therefore, we are working with the Ukrainian authorities to support wintering and population protection programs, as well as in any areas that will help mitigate the consequences,” said the representative of the UN Secretary General.
On September 11, a representative of the pro-Russian military-civilian administration (VGA) of the Zaporozhye region Vladimir Rogov told RIA Novosti that the last working power unit was stopped at the Zaporizhzhya NPP, which had previously operated at minimum power. Previously, the pro-Russian authorities did not rule out stopping it, since the area near the station was constantly under fire from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
During a special operation in Ukraine, the Russian military took control of part of the Zaporozhye region, including Energodar, where the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, the ZNPP, is located. The mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) arrived on the territory of the Zaporozhye NPP on September 1 due to regular shelling from Ukraine.
