The UN Security Council will hold a closed meeting on November 8 on the topic of sabotage on the Nord Stream gas pipelines in September last year. This was reported by the Permanent Mission of Brazil to the UN, writes TASS.

It is clarified that the meeting will take place at the request of the Russian side immediately after the end of the open meeting of the UN Security Council on Ukraine, which will begin at 23:00 Moscow time. It also will pass at the initiative of Russia and will be associated with Kyiv’s attacks on Donetsk.

On September 26, 2022, the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, which pass through the Baltic Sea, were damaged as a result of sabotage. After this, Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the West of sabotage. Initially, Germany, Sweden and Denmark planned to conduct a joint investigation with Russia, but later abandoned this idea. In October 2022, Sweden announced the completion of the investigation, but did not name those responsible for the incident.

On February 8, American journalist and Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh published his investigation of the Nord Stream incident, in which he accused the United States and Norway of involvement in the bombing. Then he spoke on this topic more than once. In particular, on September 26 of this year, he said that the team of employees of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), which was preparing the operation to undermine the Nord Streams, left no traces “except for the success of its mission.” All reports from the operation went directly to CIA Director Bill Burns. He, the journalist claims, was the only link between the president and the organizers. Once the mission was over, all papers, copies and physical evidence were destroyed.
