As Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, told reporters, during a closed meeting on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, members of the Security Council of the world organization were unable to formulate any joint statement.
The Russian side, according to him, spoke at this meeting with a call for a ceasefire by the parties and a transition to substantive negotiations.
“Not a single country proposed a draft statement. However, all members of the Security Council condemned the Hamas attack on Israel,” added Vanessa Fraser, Permanent Representative of Malta.
