The UN said it received the fuel promised by Israel

The UN Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported the receipt of the fuel shipment. However, it is noted that much more is needed to continue activities.
The day before, the Israeli military government allowed two tanks of fuel to be transported into the Gaza Strip, and it was understood that fuel would be imported daily. According to the head of UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, the declared volume is only half the minimum amount required for humanitarian operations.
The fuel should ensure the uninterrupted operation of medical facilities, water desalination plants, sewage pumps, water pumps in shelters, humanitarian aid vehicles, bakeries and communication networks, Lazzarini said in a statement.
The fuel shortage led to a halt in humanitarian aid deliveries and a communications blackout throughout the Gaza Strip the day before, The Guardian wrote. The UN said its trucks could not move and therefore the organization could not coordinate supplies. Fuel shortages have shut down water and sewage treatment systems as health authorities warn of the spread of infectious diseases.
