According to UN Deputy Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths, the transit of Russian ammonia through Ukrainian territory will be resumed within one to two weeks.
Griffiths stressed that negotiations on the launch of the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline are proceeding successfully and may be completed in the near future. “I think we are pretty close to reaching an agreement, we are getting closer to that this week. I think we will achieve this,” he said.
The UN noted that if this ammonia pipeline is not launched in the near future, then problems with the availability of food may begin.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with businessman Dmitry Mazepin, supported the launch of the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline. “The parameters there, the figures are known, the volumes are clear. The gain for all participants in this process is also clear,” the head of state said.
