The official representative of the UN Secretary General Stephane Dujarric said that the organization calls on Israel and Hamas not to resume fighting in the Gaza Strip. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Dujarric noted that the resumption of fighting will only worsen the already deplorable situation in the region. According to him, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres is disappointed that fighting is taking place in Gaza again.
“We call on the parties not to resort to further military action, which could only worsen the already catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip,” Dujarric said.
On the morning of December 1, the Israeli military accused the Palestinian Hamas movement of violating the pause in hostilities, after which they resumed attacks on the Gaza Strip. At the same time, the pause in hostilities also ended on December 1 at 7.00 (8.00 Moscow time), despite preliminary information, it was not officially extended.
