Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Igor Zhovkva, in a commentary to Ukrainian media, said that the first “peace summit”, which Kyiv is currently organizing, will take place without Russia’s participation. At the same time, the Ukrainian authorities admit that Russia may take part in the second summit, subject to certain conditions.
According to Zhovkva, following the results of the first summit, a certain “peace plan” will be developed. If Russia “is ready to share this common philosophy of the countries,” then it will be possible to talk about certain elements of the participation of Russian representatives in the second summit.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara is ready to host a peace summit on Ukraine with the participation of Russia. However, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky opposed this idea. Russian President Vladimir Putin later noted that if Kyiv wants a negotiation process, it must cancel the decree prohibiting negotiations with Russia. The Kremlin also emphasized that no peace process in Ukraine is possible without taking into account the opinions and interests of Russia
