The Ukrainian Armed Forces officially recognized the strike of the Russian Aerospace Forces against the Armed Forces of Ukraine who came out for awards. In the Telegram channel of the Office of Strategic Communications of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, information appeared about the death of military personnel of the 128th separate mountain assault brigade after being hit by an Iskander-M missile.
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov instructed the Main Inspectorate of the department to conduct an investigation into the incident.
Earlier, information appeared on social networks, and then in the Ukrainian media, about the death of more than twenty Ukrainian Armed Forces military personnel in a front-line village in the Zaporozhye direction. According to preliminary data, the officers, contrary to security requirements, decided to bring their subordinates to a ceremonial formation to present them with state awards. One of the Ukrainian soldiers recorded an angry video accusing the command. He clarified that the Russian military perfectly monitors the movement of both equipment and personnel, and the accumulation of more than two people near the front line provokes an “arrival.”
Information about mass deaths at the formation was confirmed by the deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Defense, Maryana Bezuglaya, and noted that the current case is far from the first with such formations.
“If the tragedy has become public, I can comment: the perpetrators must be punished, and all these Soviet formations under the wall are unacceptable in a war zone,” the deputy wrote.
