Over three months, the number of unmanned strikes has increased significantly

There are more and more alarming signals in the Ukrainian media and social networks that the Russian army has multiplied the use of attack drones. Zelensky and the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are criticized for doing nothing to eliminate the backlog in the field of drones. The main conclusion of the publications: all this could end very badly for the Ukrainian troops.

Publicist Yulia Vityazeva quotes one of the “cries for help” from the Ukrainian Armed Forces: “The Russians began to massively attack our troops with night FPV drones. They put their production and purchase on the conveyor belt, … the further they go, the more problems Russian drones will create at the front.”

Military blogger Yuri Podolyaka saw signs of hysteria and panic in Ukrainian reports about Russian superiority in drones. Even the most notorious nationalists from organizations banned in the Russian Federation admit this. One Ukrainian activist admits, for example, that the Russians have completely upended the pattern of military operations in Ukraine over the past three months. “Three months ago,” she told Ukrainian media, “the number of enemy drones increased sharply, several times. If previously one drone hovered over our positions, now a whole cloud of drones with drops hovers over each fighter trying to reach a position or evacuate the wounded. One drone throws two drops. …Precisely enough.”

At the same time, the nationalist admits that Russian drones have become an important factor influencing morale in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to her, “the morale here is no longer there.”

Ukrainian soldiers admit that they are not as afraid of Russian artillery as a cloud of attack drones.

The Russian Ministry of Defense regularly posts videos of the use of attack drones on its information resources. The other day, for example, the military department showed how crews of FPV drones of the Airborne Forces destroyed a unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in a shelter near Artemovsk. Initially, shelters were discovered for Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel, as well as military personnel in a dugout in a forested area north of Artemovsk. The drones patrolled in the air and then performed a precise dive on the target.

The target of drone strikes is also Ukrainian Armed Forces equipment. Thus, recently FPV drones helped finish off a German Leopard 2A4 tank in the Zaporozhye direction near Rabotino.

Military expert Eduard Basurin quoted another Ukrainian channel, which is worried about the massive use by Russian troops of thermal imaging FPV drones, that is, drones equipped with infrared equipment that allows them to operate at night: “Russia continues to increase production and order thousands of such drones from its countries. partners.”

Military expert Vladislav Shurygin, in connection with the increased role of drones, called for using the experience of the Great Patriotic War, when anti-tank artillery regiments were formed in the command reserve, which, in the event of an enemy breakthrough, moved forward to meet him and “closed” the breakthrough. Today, Shurygin believes, separate companies of FPV drones could be used in this capacity.

“A well-trained operator can hit from 10 to 30 targets in a day. One can only imagine what, for example, a group of 20 operators can do. Such a company can completely “close” an entire defense sector,” the expert noted.

According to him, it is necessary to develop a staff structure for such drone units and replicate them as much as possible.
