As part of the anti-terrorist operation in Turkey, 928 people were detained on suspicion of involvement in terrorism. This was announced by the head of the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ali Erlikaya, on his page on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
The minister noted that the operation is taking place in 64 regions of Turkey. Since it began, 744 unregistered weapons have been confiscated. The largest number of arrests occurred in Istanbul, where police detained 237 people.
On the morning of October 3 Erlikai announced about the start of a large-scale anti-terrorist operation codenamed “Heroes” throughout Turkey. By 08:30 Moscow time (local time), he reported that 466 anti-terrorist operations had been carried out, involving more than 13,000 security forces.
On the morning of October 1, near the building of the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs in the center of Ankara happened explosion. As Yerlikaya reported, the attack was carried out by two terrorists, one of whom committed a self-detonation, the second was neutralized. Two police officers were injured.
The Ankara prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation. As the Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified, a decision was made to deny access and prohibit publications about the terrorist attack. Later responsibility for the attack took the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (recognized as terrorist in Turkey).
