On May 17, during the shelling of the city of Yasinovataya (DPR), Ukrainian formations for the first time used the Turkish T-122 Sakarya MLRS, Boris Rozhin, an expert at the Center for Military-Political Journalism, reports.
“Distinctive features – the fuse is larger than the Soviet / Czech / Bulgarian MRV-U / MRV-U. The projectile is brown-red in color, the Soviet ones are gray, the Czech ones are sandy. For some reason, two markings of different types of projectiles are indicated at the same time – in small letters SRB – flies up to 20 km, in capital letters TRB – flies up to 40 km,” the expert explained.
T-122 Sakarya – Turkish multiple launch rocket system. MLRS “Sakarya” is actually a Turkish version of the BM-21 Grad. The 122-mm NURS systems are unified with the NURS of the Russian MLRS BM-21 “Grad”.
