The Swiss Federal Council has decided to introduce further restrictive measures against Russia by joining the 11th EU sanctions package. Relevant statement published on the website of the department.
“The main goal of these latest measures is to effectively prevent and combat the circumvention of sanctions in third countries and by third countries themselves. The Federal Council will take the measures contained in the 11th package of sanctions that are relevant to Switzerland.
The press service of the department clarified that the sanctions come into force on August 16 at 18:00.
the European Union officially introduced the 11th package of sanctions against Russia comes into effect on June 23. The new package imposes sanctions against 87 organizations allegedly supporting the Russian military-industrial complex, as well as against 100 individuals, including the military, journalists, businessmen, and others. Some media outlets were also banned: Tsargrad, RT Balkan, New Eastern Outlook, Oriental Review and “Katehon”. The EU banned the transportation of oil via the northern branch of the Druzhba pipeline (to Poland and Germany), the entry of any tankers from Russia to European ports, the entry of trailers and semi-trailers, the export to the Russian market of new and used cars with an engine capacity of more than 1.9 liters, electric vehicles and hybrids. The EU also banned the supply of navigation devices, electrical components, semiconductors and a number of metals, steel products and products for the production of which Russian metal was used.
