The Supreme Court recognized as legal the refusal of Nadezhdin’s claim on the form of a list of collectors

The Supreme Court of Russia recognized the legal refusal of the claim of politician Boris Nadezhdin, who challenged the Central Election Commission’s requirements for the form of the list of signature collectors for registration as a candidate in the presidential elections. The politician reported in Telegram channelwhich is again appealing the court decision.

How it conveys TASS, at the court hearing, Boris Nadezhdin said that the CEC instructions “are used to apply a formal, discriminatory approach.” The politician challenged the norms according to which lists of signature collectors are certified by a notary of a certain region. Because of this, according to Mr. Nadezhdin, the commission eliminated signatures submitted to the Moscow headquarters by citizens who were registered in other regions.

A representative of the Central Election Commission responded that Boris Nadezhdin’s claims contradict the law. He stated that the requirements for the signature collection form are necessary to count the votes cast in each region, reports “RIA News”. Thus, the court rejected the politician’s fourth claim.

February 21 Supreme Court admitted The decision of the Central Election Commission to deny Boris Nadezhdin registration as a candidate from the “Civil Initiative” party was legal. On February 12, Mr. Nadezhdin filed two lawsuits with the Central Election Commission in the Supreme Court – challenging the form of the inspection sheet and challenging the form of the list of collectors. On February 15, the court rejected both claims. The politician appealed these decisions. The second complaint will also be considered today, February 26.

The CEC refused to register Mr. Nadezhdin on February 8. Based on the results of checking 105 thousand signatures that the politician submitted to the Central Election Commission, the Central Election Commission commission considered 9,147 signatures invalid and 95,587 signatures valid.
