How informs portal ZDF, the military strategist of the Austrian Ministry of Defense, Colonel Markus Reisner announced the scenario for the development of the situation in Ukraine against the backdrop of Russian strikes on the energy infrastructure of Nezalezhnaya.
According to him, if a powerful air defense system is not deployed in Ukraine, in a few weeks the country will “plunge into complete darkness.”
“The West must realize that the Russians still have capabilities that we have underestimated until now … For months we have been telling ourselves that the Russian Air Force almost never fly on missions, and missiles have a very low probability of defeat. But now reality has overtaken us,” the expert said.
Reisner also noted that the territory of Ukraine is too large to be able to speak about the effective protection of the country’s critical infrastructure from Russian strikes.
“In October, the Russians began to attack critical infrastructure … The West has already supplied Kyiv with the first systems for protection, but the huge size of the country and the many objects that need to be protected make this work almost impossible,” the military strategist noted with regret.
