State Duma deputies, together with the government, are developing a bill to ban the sale of energy and tonic drinks to minors. This was announced by one of the initiators, a member of the Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption Sultan Khamzaev (“United Russia”). According to him, the draft law will also provide for liability for sellers and entrepreneurs.
According to him, an increased amount of substances such as taurine, caffeine, guarana, deals “a serious blow to the still not fully strengthened health of the child.” “Hence, there is an increase in cardiovascular diseases among children, which doctors state today. Add here the effect of these substances on the nervous system. The fact that energy cocktails are harmful is said by all doctors without exception,” Mr. Khamzaev told RIA Novosti.
