First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Alexey Chepa commented on the proposal of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, to temporarily cancel the upcoming presidential elections in 2024 or hold them with one candidate, Vladimir Putin, due to the ongoing special military operation.
“I think that the elections should not be postponed,” the deputy said in interview News.ru.
According to Chepa, elections are important for the president to determine how much people trust him today.
The politician also called it correct to hold elections with several candidates, since this will not give the opportunity to question the result.
